Job Description

About the Position

The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) invites applications for 01 post of Assistant Director (Environmental Legislation) (BS-17) on a contract basis for a period of three (3) years in the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (Case No. 58G2026, Advertisement No. 09/2026).

This is a specialized civil service role focused on environmental legislation, policy interpretation, and regulatory enforcement in Punjab — one of the most critical areas of public administration given Pakistan's growing climate challenges.

Qualification

BSc (second division having 16 years' education) in Environmental Engineering from a University recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC);

OR

BS (second division having 16 years' education) in Environmental Sciences; or Environmental Law from a University recognized by HEC.

Set 8: Matric → Intermediate → Bachelor → LL.B. → M.Sc Environmental Law

Set 9: Matric → Intermediate → Bachelor → LL.B. → Master in Environmental Science

Set 10: Matric → Intermediate → Bachelor → M.Sc Environmental Law

Preference

Preference shall be given to candidates who possess the degree of LL.B with two (2) years' experience or specialization in Environmental Laws.

  • Candidates possessing the preferred qualification (LL.B.) shall be shortlisted at first stage for the written test / interview and final selection.
  • If no eligible candidate with preferential qualification is available, candidates with other prescribed qualifications will be considered at a subsequent stage.

Age Limit

  • Male: 21 to 30 years + 5 years general relaxation = 35 years
  • Female: 21 to 30 years + 8 years general relaxation = 38 years
  • Age and sex of transgender candidates will be based on the contents of their CNIC.

Documents Required at Interview

  1. Valid CNIC — must not be expired on the last day of online application.
  2. Matriculation / O Level certificate
  3. Intermediate / A Level certificate
  4. BSc / BS (Hons.) — the qualifying degree
    • Candidates without this qualification will be ineligible even if they pass the written test.
    • For equivalent qualifications, candidates must obtain an Equivalence Certificate from QEDC of the concerned department before the written test / interview.
    • DMCs (Detailed Marks Certificates) showing total and obtained marks, or a Percentage Certificate from the Controller of Examinations — PPSC does not accept CGPA without conversion.
  6. Domicile Certificate — issued on or before the closing date.
  7. Departmental Permission Certificate — for government employees, issued from the appointing authority.
  8. Disability Certificate — for special persons, from the Provincial Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, Social Welfare Department.

For Candidates with LL.B Qualification

If applying on the basis of LL.B:

  • Experience certificate showing exact dates and containing complete information including environmental laws must be obtained from the President, District Bar Association, duly countersigned and with the rubber stamp of the District and Sessions Judge / Additional District and Sessions Judge concerned (in original).
  • Enrollment certificate as an Advocate issued by the Punjab Bar Council.
  • Both documents must be submitted at the time of interview.

For Candidates with Other Experience

  • Applicants from public or private sector are admissible after the prescribed qualification.
  • Experience in private entities shall be accepted only if the entity is registered with SECP, Registrar of Firms, or any other Regulatory Authority.
